Manchester City reveals new official club suits by Dsquared2

February 2017, ‘The Citizens’ have unveiled an all-new official club suit exclusively designed by renowned fashion brand Dsquared2.

Manchester City and Dsquared2, the Italian fashion brand recognised for their detail-oriented tailoring, first announced their partnership in October 2016. The multi-year partnership has since then seen Dsquared2 dress Manchester City’s players and coaching staff in their exclusive pre-match uniforms for away UEFA Champions League games.

The newly unveiled suit mixes Italian sartorial construction and a Dsquared2 contemporary cut. Tailored for a modern, slim fit the three-button jacket features dual vents and a peak lapel, layered over a waistcoat and trim pants.

To celebrate the arrival of City’s new suit Dean and Dan Caten, founders and designers of Dsquared2: “We wanted the players to feel as confident in this suit as they do when they pull on their team jersey. Every element of the Dsquared2 for Manchester City suit is designed to show modern tailoring sophistication: from its Italian refined wool fabric and the sartorial skill used in construction, and the contemporary fit, it’s a statement of masculine elegance.”

Manchester City FC is an English Premier League club whose roots began in East Manchester in 1880 as St Mark’s West Gorton. It officially became Manchester City FC in 1894 and has since then gone onto win the European Cup Winners’ Cup, four League Championship titles, including two Premier League titles, and five FA Cups. Manchester City FC is one of four teams comprising the City Football Group and counts New York City FC, Melbourne City FC and Yokohama F-Marinos among its sister clubs.

Under manager Pep Guardiola, one of the most highly decorated managers in world football, the Club plays its domestic and UEFA Champions League home fixtures at the Etihad Stadium, a spectacular 55,000 seat arena that City have called home since 2003. Today, the Stadium sits on the wider Etihad Campus, which also encompasses the City Football Academy, a world-leading first team training and youth development facility located in the heart of East Manchester. Featuring a 7,000 capacity Academy Stadium, the City Football Academy is also where Manchester City Women’s Football Club and the Elite Development Squad train on a daily basis and play their competitive home games.

Individual, daring and creative, Dsquared2’s approach to fashion is a distinct mix of heritage Canadian iconography, modern Italian tailoring and playful sensuality. Founded by brothers Dean and Dan Caten in 1995, the brand’s collections are a seamless melding of contrasts: sporty and glamorous, laidback and extravagant, and masculine and feminine. Dean and Dan Caten divide their lives between London and the rest of the world, and the Dsquared2 collections are produced in Italy, giving rise to the brand’s motto of “Born in Canada, Living in London, Made in Italy”.
