Ever wondered how our pretty pieces come about? Lucy and Hollie from Oasis’s design team, gave us the low down on what goes on behind those design doors.
Design week
Once a month, the whole design team comes together for a full week, to share inspiration and ideas for future collections. Inspiration can come from anywhere; catwalk shows, exhibitions, vintage finds and places. All our ideas are collated to create trend mood boards and Pinterest boards which are used to inspire the designers during the design stage. Design week is a great time for us to really get together as a team.
Present ideas
The ideas are then presented on mood boards and discussed with buying and merchandising teams. In this session key information such as previous best sellers is also discussed.
Designing the product
At Oasis we pride ourselves on having our very own in-house print and design team that create most of what you see in store. The print team will source, re-work, re-scale and re-colour our own original prints that are then printed onto a variety of products. Teams of designers working on each product category developing and sourcing new fabrics and details and sketching by hand each and every garment you see in-store.
The selection process
Once designs have been created, they are selected and signed off in a product selection meeting. Each garment is selected on its own merits as well as looking good within a collection.
Fitting process
Each week a fitting model graces her presence at Oasis HQ to help us perfect the fit of every product.
Prints are approved and sent out for production
We often have a mixture of prints, so our design team ensure they work on different fabrics across different suppliers. We take a lot of time and care when reviewing prints, ensuring every print maintains the high quality Oasis.
Ready and waiting
Once samples have been sent back from production, we style them in our photo studio, just before delivering to the shop.
