An eclectic fusion of influences inspires the new collection.
This season MAX&Co. explores the concept of modern femininity through an eclectic collection with a mix and match sensibility. The collection brings together a variety of influences: the boyish and the feminine, the formal and the informal, bohemian and utilitarian, bold prints and a vivid palette. Throughout, relaxed, upbeat ease unites the collection and is indicative of the versatility the MAX&Co. woman demands from her wardrobe – office attire is relaxed, after dark dressing is cooler than ever, and high summer beachwear no longer asks her to sacrifice style. The confident mood is translated into the collection’s colour palette.
Candy pink, coral, mint green and royal blue also feature, tempered by muted tones of cream, white and sun-bleached blue.
Florals are the collection’s key print, capturing this feminine moment. Yellow-hued jacquard dresses star a retro-inspired print that calls to mind ’70s interiors fabrics, while a painterly pink and blue design is delightfully busy. Ditsy, dainty florals are scaled down in size, but equally impactful and call to mind vintage Liberty prints.
The mixing of masculine and feminine accents is at the heart of the collection. Suits feature pretty floral prints and a boyish shirt and trouser pairing is given a feminine edge with scalloped trims. Denim takes on a more directional demeanour for SS18, losing none of its rebellious ease. High waisted shorts, a mini dress and jumpsuit are finished with scalloped edges for a prettier spin.
A relaxed vibe runs throughout Spring/Summer 2018. Nowhere is this seen more clearly than in the silhouettes. Trousers are tailored but slouchy – either pooling at the ankle or cropped. And the statement sleeve is one of the season’s leading catwalk trends, replaces last summer’s off the shoulder moment.
