The Best Hair Looks From Fall 2017 Runways

Dior

The Vibe: Dreamy romantic waves

Get the Look: They key to the look were waves that looked natural, not “mechanical” like curling wand can make them look, said stylist Guido Palau. After letter hair air dry, Palau separated hair into 8 to 10 sections, sprayed with dry hair spray, and then twisted each section into a length of tissue (an old school method) and curling it up close to the head. To set the twirled shape, he then clamped each twisted section with a flat iron, brushing them out softly and setting with more dry spray.

Versace

The Vibe: Tough sexuality

Get the look: After washing, stylist Guido Palau center parted hair, added blowdry primer, and dried it while roughing it up a bit with his fingers. French colorist Josh Wood created brightly colored extensions in reds, yellows, and blues, which gave about 20 of the models “a touch of individuality”, says Palau.

Max Mara

The Vibe: Fall’s answer to beach waves.

Fendi

The Vibe: “Cool girl hair”. Said lead hairstylist Sam McKnight.

Dolce & Gabbana

Get the look: The runway’s latest obsession with individuality hit a glamorous pitch on the Dolce and Gabbana runway. “The runway models are influencers, clients, models, and real people walking in the show”, say stylist Guido Palau. “The hair is being “Dolcified” for each person”. The meant some had classic, feminine long waves, others had striking natural curls, and many sported pretty updos adorned with crowns and flowers.

Alberta Ferretti

The Vibe: Romantic Venetian braid

Get the Look: First, hair was air dried with a center part, then stylist Guido Palau added waves and texture with a curling iron and dry styling spray. He loosely braided the hair starting at the nape of the neck, fastened it, and pulled out little pieces around the crown and ears for a pretty tousled touch, finishing with hairspray.

Tory Burch

The Vibe: Katharine Hepburn ponytail

Get the Look: After blow-drying clean hair with a bit of smoothing lotion to help bring shine to each model’s own hair texture, stylist Guido Palau pulled hair back into a low pony with a center part and added an asymmetrically tied black ribbon bow around the base to “evoke a romantic, sophisticated, soft, pretty look”, he says.

Ralph Lauren

The Vibe: Air-dried with lustrous shine

Get the Look: Before letting each model air dry, stylist Guido Palau had her hair washed, and then added touch of oil throughout and center-parted it. After drying, hair was brushed and touched up with a curling iron in random places for a little bit of bend.

Jenny Packham

The Vibe: Knitted bang

Get the Look: Hairstylist Odile Gilbert first blow-dried mousse into hair for volume and texture. To add pretty curls, she twisted each small section of hair before wrapping it around the curling iron. She then sprayed with dry shampoo with the model’s heads tilted upside down for extra lift at the roots. After side parting, the front part of the hair was pulled into a bang and then “knit” by taking small strands of hair from underneath and wrapping them around and through, until reaching the back. The same technique was used on the other side, with the two ends hair-tied together and finished with hairspray for hold.
