Runway is an endless source of inspiration for fashion lovers around the world. Take a tour to these fashion capital to catch up with makeup trends for the New Year.
1/ New York
Having seen New York, makeup artists can re-interpret, tone up, or down, those looks that NYC creatives divine from their personal inspiration. Strong eyes and pouts prevailed. Especially at Cushnie et Ochs, where one lip sported deep, matte red and the other bold fuchsia, on the same mouth. Creative eye and sport-inspired lining manifested with strong geometric lines at Victoria Beckham and Opening Ceremony, as did metallic touches at the interior lines of lids.
2/ London
Bold, strong, this London fashion week was all about the mane. Permed coiffeurs at Topshop had us thinking of our favorite 80s pop stars, as did the dark roots and wavy blond. Hair accessories? Ashley Williams showed us front barrettes in bedazzled while Erdem classically approaced with black grosgrain ribbons tied into simple bows as beautiful headbands.
3/ Milan
There’s power and strength in appeal, which Milan provides in spades, season after season. But this season we loved a few complete runway looks primed to take over our bathroom routine in the morning that felt both fresh and classic. We saw beautifully glossy tresses, easily achieved with your flat iron and a spritz of oil and flawless makeup applied with metallic precision. Sportmax gave us a way to add athleisure to our hair and makeup looks with a damp-effect textured wave and bold primary-color eye shadow.
4/ Paris
As the ultimate arbiter of taste and with so many stunning looks to focus on, we whittled Paris down to two ultra-relatable trends we can’t wait to apply. First up, something we like to think of as being literally into the gloss. Whether you attribute it to the induction of athletic-style or a love for poolside cavorting, there was both strong and subtle sheen seen on every major part of the model visage, though not all at once. At Alexander McQueen the lower brow bone glistened with a romantic beam while Balmain showed a classic smoky eye, it was the bronzed, highlighted cheek bones that stood out. Braids have become a runway mainstay on some of our favorite runways.
