MAX&Co. Fall 2017 collection celebrates the versatility in elegant collection on such a rich palette

Eclectic, romantic and cool  is what you will see at the one-year birthday event of MAX&Co. on 29th July at Saigon Centre.

MAX&Co.’s new collection takes us on a trip to an enchanted secret garden, with a collection starring luxurious fabrics, soft volumes and languid silhouettes.

Wearable opulence defines the heart of the collection. Butterflies and ladybugs imbue precious jacquards with a natural spirit, moody florals are lightened up with pops of metallics, and sumptuous satins and luxe wools are found on fluid silhouettes: think robe coats, floaty maxi dresses and ruffle trimmed blouses.

The collection’s bold use of colour – jade, crimson, caramel – is seen most strikingly on colour blocked pieces such as a camel bonded wool outerwear with contrasting sky blue panels; or pretty silk chiffon pieces in this season’s essential colour pairing: red and pink. The ease of athleisure pieces and borrowed-from-the-boys tailoring offer a tonic to the collection’s exuberant femininity. Sleek jersey separates in a refined palette of biscuit and black, wide-leg culottes in heritage check and a sleeveless tweed jacket are particularly noteworthy.

The mix and match spirit of the collection confirms its dress up/dress down potential. Daywear is elevated: denim pieces are embellished, a pleated metallic midi skirt has 9-9 potential, and in black satin, a bomber becomes the coolest after-dark cover-up. The cleverest piece of the collection? The 4 Season Parka. A true 24/7 piece, it does exactly what the name suggests and can be adapted to work all season round, transforming from a hooded parka to a gilet with just a bit of clever zipping and unzipping.

The versatility is continued into the collection’s 2-N-1 bags. Building on the success of last season’s debut, the double duty designs – including a backpack that transforms into a mini bag and a shoulder bag that becomes a shopper – are this season reimagined in bronze and brown studded leather and metallic camouflage.

For accessories, the secret garden theme comes to the fore in MAX&Co.’s second collaboration with Swarovski. Crystal ladybugs, scarab beetles and butterflies land atop chokers, pendants, earrings and bracelets.
